they walk beside us every day.

still loved, still missed, and very dear.

Festivals galore!!!
This time of the year
happens to be my favorite.
There are so many festivities all across
that it kinds of gets on my mood too.
Does that reflect in this one here?
I hope it does.
I created it yesterday.
Created though may not sound appropriate.
I compiled it yesterday
would say it more accurately.
In case you want a
or want tosend it out as
you can hope over to my
Reflection
There are prompts
that I am skeptical of
and prompts that I love.
This is one of those prompts.
Let's begin with love.
I love it because there
is so much you can do with it.
The limits to the creativity
Well, they don't exist.
Only, I am skeptical of it because
I am not sure
if I have that skill
(even if we agree that I would have imagination).

My father took this picture in our April tour.
I just happened to have it handy.

A Favorite Thing
One of the favorite things
that I like to do is reading.
And when I am reading,
I like to bookmark the pages.
So a small collection
is building up slowly.
Some for the words,
some for the colors,
some because they are a gift.
There's a reason why I like them all.
There's a reason why they are my favorite.
Now,
Which one do you like the best?

5'o clock
Frankly speaking,
I missed the prompt.
5 A.M. I was sleeping
and perhaps snoring.
5 P.M. I was helping a boy
from the block with some
mathematics questions.
It totally skipped my mind.
And here I am sitting
without a picture to share.
Or may be not.
If an old photograph
taken precisely at 5:40 A.M.
will be thought eligible.
It is part of stoned wall or fence
from our neighbors house.
And talking of older pictures
there is one more that
I would like to share.
Lord Ganesha
in different hues.
Courtesy - my personal collection.
The first one from the left is the only one I bought.
The other two are thoughtful gifts
from thoughtful people.

Mark of duty
Yes, the indelible ink on the finger there
that says out loud
I exercised my right.
I exercised my vote.
And hopefully wisely.
Television
The prompt television takes me
back to the times
when we all used to
gather in the big drawing room of ours
to watch the favorite serials on
a set that looked very much like this.
Over the years,
the looks of television have undergone
huge changes until recently
when the wall mounted LCDs and LEDs
are in vogue.
I am pretty sure
it would have gone a step or two beyond
that too and I am yet to catch up with it.
A television looking like this
is certainly out of scenes
but it was so much more homely.
In case you are wondering
this machine is still functional.

Breakfast
Breakfast
It has been a couple of days
since "Karwa Chauth"
which is
a late autumn festival
which falls on fourth day
after the full moon,
in what we call here the month of Kartik,
( somwhere in Oct/Nov, this year it fell on 2nd Novemeber, 2012)
and which is observed by rigorous fasting by married women
for health, longevity and happiness of their husband's lives.
The festival is best loved by me for
the reason I pictured.
The "Fenian",
a clarified butter (ghee) based preparation,
which is ideally a part of "Sargi",
gift from mother-in-law to the women
happens to be quite nutritious.
So, I buy a huge supply for myself,
good enough to last me a season
and I enjoy steaming bowl of
milk enriched with "Fenian"
for my breakfast.
Already my mouth is watering.
What is your tempting breakfast platter holding?

Colour
Colors
represent the zest and zeal of life and living.
Each color
making the pallet of life
gorgeous.
For those who are guessing,
these are crayon sticks.
And for those who had guessed it already,
well, pat on your backs.

Something beginning with 'C'
Something beginning with 'C'
With festivals almost every week,
I cannot think
of anything other than 'C'hocolates.
and that too
the 'C'adbury 'C'ollection,
the regular as well as the 'C'elebration series.
Sweet tooth, Naaah!!!
I guess I have a chocolate tooth.

A song and a quote
A song that reminds you of somewhere
This should have come at an earlier date
but somehow I skipped it.
So am making up for it today
by sharing
Tom Jones - Green Green Grass
It reminds me of ...
....
well, it is a little needless to state, isn't it?
And fall is definitely in air.
I see it on every blog
out there.
So, adding a little fall hues
to my little niche too,
with these words
Happy fall,
happy October,
happy living.

A song from your favorite band
Favorite band
hard to narrow down to one
because mostly I listen to songs
according to mood
not by bands.
But in general,
majority of the songs in the playlist
would be from Michael learns to rock (MLTR)
So, here's me sharing
one of the most heard song from my list.
MLTR - Take me to your heart
Come share with me,
Your favorite band
and a song from that band.
Have a great weekend ahead.

A song that makes you fall asleep
I interpret this prompt
to share a song
that lulls me to sleep.
Not exactly a lullaby
and not exactly a boring song either.
I would love to sleep to
soothing music, good song.
So before the sleep time,
I would love to listen to
Possibility - Lykke Li
Well, that one's from my side.
What song to do you listen to when
you go to sleep?
Thursday, September 27, 2012
A song that you can dance to
A song that you can dance to
- this is the prompt
and this truly is a no-brainer.
Well, I love dancing.
It is so much better than singing.
And that I can neither sing nor dance well
is a separate matter.
Now the preface with my dancing love done,
I am about to share the song with you.
The song that I can dance to
Uptown Girl - Billy Joel
Uptown Girl - hohohohoho
Off to dancing.
Everyone, have a wonderful time.

A song that you know all the words to
This one is tricky.
So much that it had me thinking
for some 2 days.
Hence, the delay.
I love so many songs
but none of them really
qualifies for the category.
After searching all this while,
I did realize, that there is one song
- the words to which I know.
At least when it starts by playing.
Roberta Flack, George Benson - You are the love of my life
Have a wonderful time ahead.
Sunday, September 23, 2012
A song that reminds you of certain event
The best event of my life
when my nephews were born.
For both of them
Celine Dion - Beautiful Boy
Have a wonderful day ahead.
Saturday, September 22, 2012
A song that reminds you of someone
Almost every song reminds me of someone
but if I were to select one
I would definitely
choose
You Sang to Me - Marc Anthony.
The song reminds me of a
dear friend.
Is there a song
that you would want to share
with us?
Go ahead
and do it.
Have a wonderful time ahead.

Friday's Fences
I was trying to click some pictures
for the world photography contest last month.
It is at that time, that I had clicked these shots.
The Canon had come to life
after a long time
and so I was experimenting with it.
The first thing that I share here is
the historic stone fence
to the historic Barselas,
the royal tombstones right next to my house.
And the next one is
a small little wicket gate
with a little arch that is now
all distorted.
There were times when this arch was covered with vines and climbers.

A song that makes you sad
There are some songs that
make you happy
while others leave your eyes
a little tearful.
And
The Better Man - Shayne Ward
saddens me heart.
And I am auto-scheduling the posts
these days for by the time
I would want my post to go live,
I would be busy partying away.
Oh! I did forget to tell you all,
we are celebrating my cousin's wedding here.
So, I should be playing
some nice happy song at this moment.
Sorry "better man" - you got to wait to be heard again.

Song that makes you happy
Celine Dion - I am alive!
Nothing can beat this song.
At least for me.
The music and the lyrics and Celine Dion's voice -
they work magic.
Lift up my spirits
and trickle my being with life.
It is definitely a song
that can make me happy.
I have it as ring tone for my cell,
I have it in my playlist on my cell,
I have it on my MP3.
Everywhere.
For one simple reason,
it makes me happy.
And I hope it makes you happy too.

Least Favorite Song
It is only second day of
the song meme
and I am stuck.
That would have to be me.
The lists says the least favorite song.
I am torn.
I usually delete the songs I do not like
from my computer
and so, I am left with all favorite kind of songs.
I have gone through the list again and again.
And I have finally succeeded.
Pitbull - I know you want me (Calle Ocho)
I listened to it and knew in an instant
that it was going to the recycle bin.
I wonder how did it ever came to
be in my song collection at the first place.
And also how did it manage to stay there
unnoticed!
All said and done,
May be it just was waiting for today.
Keep waiting,
Day 3 is going to be fun too.
And don't worry, I will be signing off
on a better note than that song.
Does it not look so beautiful?
Here's another one.
So now, you know what I am doing in my office
when I am not dealing with students and notes.

Favorite song
I came across a song meme
at this pretty blog
The list for this meme is as follows
It will have me thinking on the few days
Where I will be left wondering what song to post.
but then what is a challenge if it does not challenge you.
However some days will be a no hassle day, like today.
So I am going to be participating in this one,
kick starting with
Day 1 - Favorite Song
The Black Ghosts - Full Moon
I love the lyrics, I love the music,
I love everything about this song.
And I am listening to it
as I am drafting this post.
Can't wait to hear what your favorite song is?

Morning Sky
The morning sky
today was very dramatic.
Like somebody
picked up a brush dipped in white
and brushed across with it
in a deep blue canvas.
And then added a little bit of greens
and a little bit of moon too
Wishing you all a splendid time.

Happy Teacher's Day
5th September
The Teacher's day
I share
my gratitude towards my teachers
with the following words
This is one day,
when I call up a couple of my teachers
and talk to them.
It is a surprise
they still remember me after a decade.
Today, I wanted to extend the circle of my wishes.
So for all the teachers
who teach their kids with all their heart,
here's wishing you all
a very Happy Teacher's Day.
And I thought a Teacher's Day Card
would complement this design very well.

Winters are - approaching!
Winters are approaching.
It is that time of summer
when it is no longer summer
and not winter yet.
But days have become shorter
and rains have become colder.
I do not put on the fan when I sleep.
By the morning I am too cold if I do.
I will share some winter skies
I had captured in January
but never shared.
I found them yesterday
Days will be soon like them again -
I remember the day.
it had snowed all night
and we were on our way to Manali.
The morning was bright sunny and beautiful.
I had started active blogging around that time
and my sister had prompted me to click these.
"You could use them for your blog."
But never got a chance
or a theme
and then forgot about them all.
Today, I do put them to use.
Even winter skies can be pretty.

Greetings for the week
Not all things in life
are served on platter.
And those that are not,
some how turn out to be
the best ones.
In this spirit
I share this week's greetings
I found the words on Pinterest
(there are so many to keep me busy. I have already tried some of them)
and I wanted to do it with daisies.
The poster is available here.
But then I decided to
diversify.
And, so I designed
with this design.
Have a wonderful time ahead.

It's crow time today
This morning,
why just an hour ago,
I got a little lucky.
Yesterday,
I wondered how beautifully
had pictured all the birds.
And today, I get to picture
some crows
myself.
I managed to get two decent shots,
with a crow each
waiting with watchful eyes
for some safe place to feed.
It really posed well,
what do you think?
P.S. I am glad to have my Canon back in shape again.
It definitely works better than my mobile and Sony cyber shot.

it is buildings from the other one.

Crafting a lantern
Summer vacations
are a sure way to indulge in
lots of arts and crafts
with a school going nephew at home.
Out of all the projects,
there was a paper lantern craft
that I enjoyed the most.
We took a white chart paper
and decorated it.
We let my nephew do the cotton ball painting.
Then we folded the paper vertically
and made equal equidistant cuts along the fold
as shown.
The cuts should be long but not very close to the edge.
If need be, you can mark off the margins on either side.
Then you can cut within these margins.
The cuts having been made,
the next step is to apply the adhesive
along the axis of the cuts,
right angles to the fold.
Then roll in this direction
and stick the two ends together.
The last step is to give the lantern a handle.
Use the same chart paper
and make a thin 2 layered strip
by folding and re-folding.
The strip was then stapled to the lantern.
To give finishing touches,
we cut thin strips of solid green ribbon
and taped them with adhesive
equidistantly along the bottom periphery.
(I could not get a decent picture of that one.)
And, there! Your paper lantern is ready.
Do let me know in case you enjoyed crafting this.

Weekly Greetings
"When you are down to nothing,
God
is up to something."
Came across these words on Pinterest
and created my own version of it.
I had created a textured background yesterday itself.
Yes, the very same that I had used for the I-phone skin.
I used it to get a poster ready for these beautiful words.

And then it occurred to me
that it could be used as a

A look at the sky
A look at the sky
and gorgeous clouds
finally had me getting the
Canon out of its hiding.
And I love the results that
I got with it.
How else could I flaunt the sky
with all its shades
And with bicycles, fences - everything.
This one had to be clicked
and this one had to be included too.
